Throwing a Golf “Par-Tee” that your friends will think is a “Hole in one”
So first of all when I tell people that I study PR, their immediate response is “Oh, so you study event planning”. Well my dearest (I actually want to scream at them by this point), let me inform you about a little secret of mine. PR is far more than just event planning! PR is the reason why the company you love so much is number one on everyone’s list, PR is about writing, networking, owning social networks, solving those problems that you don’t even know about and it’s all about creating a relationship between you and your favourite company. Event planning is a part of PR, but only a small part. That’s the reason why I went to study PR, because I like the variety, I like the fact that you can do so many different things and still incorporate your own uniqueness and ideas.
But in my post I will show you my love for event planning, that is themed parties to be exact. I will show you that one can make a career out of event planning if you are passionate enough and not afraid to work, it is not always about the glam and glitter; it is about getting dirty to get the job done. For me it is all about putting my own personal twist to events and to make sure that people talk about the event long after it is over. This means that they had fun!
So you think Golf is the most boring game on earth? That’s what I also thought. My friend, how I was proved wrong by organising a Golf Party. What better way to say “Happy Birdie” to a golf lover. In this post I am going to show you how to throw your own Golf Party! Let your creative side jump in and start planning a party to the tee!
So let’s start from the beginning! The invitations. I like to give something physically that represent the theme party I am throwing so what better way then to give out golf balls, golf gloves and golf hats.

The balls, gloves and hats your guests can keep. Attached just add a piece of paper, cut out like a golf ball of course and type the details of the party. When I gave the invitations to the guests, they were so excited and couldn’t wait to dress up and come play some golf!
Now the planning for the party begins! This is the hard part but also the fun part!
If you can’t hire out the whole Golf Club then bring the party indoors like I did. This way you can have fun with small indoor golf activities while having a ball on the dance floor at the same time!
Attract the guests when they arrive with something interesting! What better way to have more fun than a Golf cart! Let them pose for a photo that the Birthday Boy/Girl can keep forever. You can take them for a ride “around the golf course”.
After the ride, let them walk into the mysterious world of golf! Their feet on the soft “green grass”!
They have arrived at the golf course. They can now choose which tee to start out but usually the crowd will end up at the 19th tee where the real playing begins!

Doing the table decorations are the best part, when you have all the golf props, you can play around all day! Main colours were green, yellow and white. Ideas for table decorations include golf balls, children play sets, golf magazines, golf shoes, golf DVD’s, golf gloves, clothing, golf clubs, score cards, green tissue paper as the grass and so much more! Once you let you’re mind go, you can’t stop it!
Golf images were printed out and used as placemats. Table numbers were represented by flags which showed the tee numbers from 1-9.
Decorating around the room can be done in many ways. Use personal photos of the Birthday boy/girl while playing golf and also collect golf photos of friends playing and put it up all over the room. Golf serviettes can be purchased together with your normal green serviettes. Golf shoes, golf clubs and clothing can be put all over the room.

Create your own life size cut out of a golf cartoon or even a famous golf player to use for fun photos!

Photo booths are so in right now.  I created my own one because of the theme! The guest outfits are what made the party so I didn’t just want to see there faces! So I collected a lot of props and the fun started! Flags, balls, golf clubs and golf hats were used to spice up the players outfits!

Fun games to play during the night include a short putt-putt play off, filling a jar with balls so that guests can guess the number of balls in the jar and also having photos up of famous golf players and let the guest tell the names. Give out prices for the winners!
Food! Golf is all about grabbing a quick bite at the clubhouse after the 9th whole. So I decided to do some quick but yummy hotdogs! Other ideas include toasties, pies or just snacks. For dessert I got a little help form “Auntie Ina” and made cupcakes, decorating it with green icing sugar and putting a flag in for the final touches. Look how pretty it came out!

Lastly the guests went home with some quite useful favours. Golf tees, ball markers, pencils, golf shoes spikes and some watches.

So I hope that my blog inspired you to go and play some golf at a party off course!
Till we meet again
